What you need

The arm

Robonine Lab drives two robot models:

Model Notes
SO-ARM101 The open SO-101 design: five joints plus a gripper, six Feetech STS bus servos.
SO-ARM101-Robonine The same arm with the Robonine gripper, a camera on the wrist and a force reading on the gripper motor. This is the default in the app.

Both arrive as a kit of printed parts, servos, driver board, cables, clamps and fasteners, and are assembled in Module 1. If you are printing the parts yourself, the module links STL bundles sized for a 220 × 220 mm bed (Ender-class) and for a 205 × 250 mm bed (Prusa).

The computer

From the equipment checklist in Module 0:

The 3D view is the demanding part. An older laptop will run the course; it will just render the arm less smoothly.

The browser

Chrome or another Chromium browser, on a desktop

Talking to the arm needs Web Serial and Web Bluetooth. Safari and Firefox implement neither, and no browser on iOS or iPadOS does. On those, the USB and Bluetooth tiles in the connection dialog are greyed out and marked Chrome browser required.

Everything that does not touch the hardware — the reading, the 3D view, the computer-vision modules — works in any modern browser. See Browser support for the detail.

The desk

  • Roughly 40 × 40 cm of clear surface for the arm, plus room for your hands.
  • A free USB port. The arm's controller board connects by USB cable.
  • Mains power for the arm's supply. The follower arm runs on 12 V, a leader arm on 5 V; both adapters come in the kit.
  • Enough clearance around the arm that nothing — including you — is inside its reach when it moves.

Small parts you supply yourself

Module What it needs
1 — Assembly A screwdriver and a hex key. The kit fasteners are M2 × 6 (servos) and M3 × 6 (links and horns).
6 — End-effector work A pencil that fits the gripper and a sheet of A4 paper.
7, 8 — Computer vision A webcam, optionally — both modules also run against a built-in virtual scene.
8 — Tracking A small blue cube and a cylinder, or anything similar the camera can tell apart.
