2. Follower assembly
Assemble with power disconnected. The videos use C018 follower motors already assigned IDs 1–6. A horn fits onto the motor shaft and connects it to the link; hold the second support horn during assembly.
Match the orientation shown in the close-ups. A snug fit is expected, but never pull a misaligned part into place by tightening screws.
4. Follower base — motor 1
- Fit the upper horn to motor 1 and secure its centre with M3×6. Connect the cable while the motor is accessible.
- Insert the motor in the base. Use four M2×6 self-tapping screws, two above and two below. Fit the holder with two M2×6 screws.
- Hold the second horn in place; it has no centre retaining screw. Attach the link with four M3×6 screws on each side, then fit the shoulder motor holder.
5. Follower shoulder — motor 2
- Fit the upper horn to motor 2 with an M3×6 centre screw and prepare its cable.
- Insert the motor into its holder from above and secure it with four M2×6 self-tapping screws.
- Fit the second horn and upper-arm link using four M3×6 screws on each side. If wiring now, connect motor 1 to motor 2.
6. Follower elbow — motor 3
- Secure the upper horn to motor 3 with M3×6 and prepare its cable.
- Insert the motor into its holder and secure it with four M2×6 screws.
- Hold the second horn while fitting the forearm. Use four M3×6 screws on each side and check that no cable is trapped.
7. Follower wrist — motor 4
- Fit the upper horn to motor 4 and secure it with M3×6.
- Fit the holder, insert motor 4 and secure it with four M2×6 screws.
- Fit and hold the second horn, which has no centre retaining screw. Prepare the connection between motors 3 and 4.
8. Follower wrist rotation and gripper — motors 5 and 6
- Insert motor 5 into the wrist holder with two M2×6 screws. Fit its horn with an M3×6 centre screw and prepare the cables.
- Attach the wrist to motor 4 with four M3×6 screws per side. Attach the gripper body to motor 5’s horn with four M3×6 screws.
- Insert two M3 nuts into the gripper slots. Fit motor 6 with two M2×6 screws on each side.
- Fit motor 6’s horns, securing the driven horn with an M3×6 centre screw. Install the jaws as shown, with four M3×6 screws per side.
- Connect motors 4 → 5 → 6 and prepare the cable from motor 1 to the board. Keep wires clear of the jaws.
9. Follower camera mount
- Attach the camera to its platform with four M2×8 screws and M2 nuts on the back.
- Attach the camera bracket to the gripper with two M3×8 screws.
- Check lens orientation and cable slack through wrist motion. Calibrate the camera after its mount is final.
10. Follower controller mount
- Place the board on the flat side of the platform, with the standoffs facing down.
- The shown kit uses standoffs that press into the platform slots without screws. Use the supplied fasteners if your kit has screw-mounted standoffs.
- Connect the cable to motor 1 before mounting the platform. Slide the platform into the rear slot and check that the board is secure.
11. Follower bus wiring and check
- With power off, connect the board to motor 1, then motors 1 → 2 → 3 → 4 → 5 → 6.
- Route spare cable along the links, clear of moving parts and without tension.
- Connect the appropriate supply. Check the motors’ red indicators and that Lab detects all six IDs. If one is missing, switch off power and inspect the preceding bus connection.
Ready: the base is secured, camera and controller mounts match your kit, and the bus detects six motors.
